SDO12343 - 33KV Mains Replacement, Bradford Peverell, Dorset. Archaeological Watching Brief

Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Southern Electric plc to carry out an archaeological watching brief during works to replace overhead support poles for a 33Kv cable. One section of the proposed works was within the area of a Scheduled Monument to the north-west of Dorchester, Dorset. The monument comprises a group of barrows (burial monuments of Bronze Age date) at a location known as Seven Barrow Plantation just south-west of the village of Bradford Peverell (centred on NGR SY 647 925). The watching brief was undertaken on 25 February 1997. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were observed. The archive is currently stored at the offices of Wessex Archaeology at Old Sarum, Salisbury, under the site code W3156, but will be deposited at Dorset County Museum, Dorchester, in due course.
