SWX8521 - Bestwall Quarry Archaeology Project, Phase 3 - 1994

Archaeological work completed during 1994 included excavation of features and a subsoil search for finds in the remainder of Field B together with field walking, excavation and subsoil searches of the complete extent of Field B. Both fields were searched for metal finds at ploughsoil and subsoil levels. The removal of a greater depth of topsoil, the majority of it by flat-bed excavator, exposed a much larger number or archaeological features than in the previous two years. A chronological sequence can now be suggested for the fields so far worked.
