Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation of the final development phase on this site was carried out in November 1996. The investigation involved the excavation and recording of four mechanically-excavated trenches; each measuring 10 m in length and 1.5 m wide. Two subsoil features of possible archaeological origin were noted in the NE area of the site. Elsewhere an undisturbed soil horizon survives below the tarmac surfaces, but which is largely devoid of archaeological artefacts. The archaeological features in the NE of the site are difficult to date from the very fragmentary finds, but may be of later prehistoric date. The density of finds and features does not indicate any great intensity of settlement activity.
