Abstract/Summary
‘An archaeological evaluation comprising the recording of five machine-excavated trial pits was undertaken by AC archaeology following demolition of the former BEC carpet store. The investigation was undertaken as part of a condition of planning permission for the redevelopment of the site for 29 flats. A localised area of medieval occupation dating to the 13th – 15th centuries, including a shallow ditch terminal and possible midden, was revealed in the east of the site behind the Lower St Alban Street frontage’
