Full Description
Post-medieval finds, including a vessel and a nail, were recovered here as part of a test pitting programme undertaken in 1987 in the B1 Soil Deposition Area at Wytch Farm. (1).
A group of parallel linear ditches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the west of Wytch Farm (2). These features are located within an area of recorded settlement remains spanning a period between the Late Neolithic and the post medieval (MWX674) and are considered likely to be the remains of cultivation marks of probable post medieval origin. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). These features are not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (3), having since been plough-levelled .
