Full Description

Part of a Roman salt manufacturing site was discovered in a watching brief during development to the rear of 12 West Quay Road, Poole in 1994. The evidence comprised two rectangular clay-lined brine boiling hearths and a small ditch, which were associated with large quantities of briquetage, some 'props' and a very small quantity of Black Burnished Ware pottery.
