Full Description
A small number of ditches interpreted as part of a medieval field system were discovered during a watching brief by Wessex Archaeology during the construction of an extension to Bearwood Primary School in 1994. Four parallel ditches aligned roughly NNE-SSW were identified, two of which contained a small quantity of medieval pottery of 12th-14th century date. These ditches were about between 0.8 m - 1.17 m wide and up to 0.26 m deepfilled with dark yellowish brown loam. These ditches were within the same area as a ditched field system dating from the Late Bronze Age to the Romano-British period. (1)
