Full Description

A desk based assessment carried out in advance of development in the area, suggested there was potential for medieval deposits on the site, associated with a possible waterfront. The evaluation revealed nothing like this, the deposits recorded comprised largely the nineteenth century infilling of the Backwater. It is suggested the area may have existed as a beach or hard rather than as a stone or wooden quay. (1 & 2)
