Description

A desk based assessment in advance of residential development of the site. Identifies sequence of land reclamation and zones where deposits might exist relating to the pre-1280 port, medieval town and later post-medieval settlement of Melcombe. The authors conclude that the absence of cellared buildings and possibility of water-logging suggest a high degree of preservation of archaeological deposits might be expected.
