Summary

A small pit recorded during evaluation in 2023 of a site proposed for gravel extraction. The pit was oval with a filling of brown silty sand, containing sherds of pottery of Late Iron Age to early Roman date.

'Further east c. 17m from the ditch was oval pit 2. It was 1.55m long, 0.65m wide and 0.64m deep. Its fill comprised a single deposit of brown silty sand (55) which produced over 250 sherds of Late Iron Age-Early Roman pottery.'
