Full Description

Around ST 622197 there is an extensive area of well preserved shallow strip lynchets covering an area of at least 120 acres. They lie on the north face of Patson Hill, mostly under pasture, and are overlaid with broad rig. Visible on air photographs. <1>

A system of well defined Medieval type lynchets extend around the north side of Patson hill. The lynchets average 2.0m high and up to 30.0m wide; one particularly well preserved flight at ST 62401940 is up to 3.5m high. Running up to and at right angles to the lynchets, is an extensive area of well defined ridge and furrow averaging 4.0m wide. <2>
