Full Description
Roman Grave 175 was discovered during a watching brief carried out by AC archaeology during the construction of a new covered market and associated works at Fairfield, Dorchester, between May and July 2001. It was one of a number of human burials found in this area. It was located in Pit 10 near the southern end of the site.
Grave [175] contained skeleton [178] and was located in Test Pit 10 towards the southern end of the site. Site drawings suggest that the bones were disturbed or in a poor state of preservation. The grave seems to have been aligned approximately W-E (2).
