Abstract/Summary
This report contains a summary of the results of an archaeological assessment survey undertaken during July 1987 by the Trust for Wessex Archaeology. The area incorporated in the survey is that of the proposed BP Main Services Construction Site for the Wytch Farm Oilfield Development. A single field parcel of about three hectares is involved, centred on SY 97558540. This plot lies adjacent and north of the gathering station at Wytch Fir Pound and c250m south-west of Wytch Farm itself.
All trial pits including those located on geophysical anomalies failed to reveal any archaeological features or deposits. This fact, along with the complete lack of finds other than modern fragments suggest that if there are any surviving archaeological deposits within the field the field, they are extremely localised.
