Abstract/Summary
A short note on observations made when the trench for a new gas main (1.2m (4ft) deep) struck circular or arched brick conduits at several points along its course. They were naturally of no special importance to their discoverers and no measurements were made.
These conduits have been noted opposite the King's Arms in High East Street, opposite the entrance to St. Peter's High West Street, the west side of the Grove about 20ft east of the front garden wall of Top o' Town House, the north side of Bridport road opposite Top o' Town House, and at the corner of Trinity Street and Bowling Alley Walk during the construction of a private Garage to South Grove Cottage.
No conclusions can be reached to the significance of these brick sewers on the evidence available.
