Author/Originator
Date/Year 1915

Abstract/Summary

A history of the Parish of Fordington, from prehistoric times until the 19th century. The earlier chapters on the ‘British’ and Roman periods are typical fanciful antiquarian speculations, but contain some interesting information, mostly gleaned from other sources, on the Iron Age and Roman burials in Fordington. The later chapters are largely concerned with church history. It contains a building history of St George’s with accompanying drawings of architectural details by Jem Feacey (taken from an article in the Proceedings of the Natural History and Archaeology Society vol. 30) and a fairly detailed description of the decorated medieval floor tiles from the church with numerous illustrations.
