Summary

A mill built of red brick, with a projecting wing at the back and a stable building and circular corn store at one end. The north end of the building is dated 1779, and the south end 1826. Originally a cloth mill but subsequently converted to a sewage pumping station, stores and three houses. The water wheel has been removed.

Full Description

Lowd's Mill is recorded as having been recently built in 1607 by William Churchill on a site where no mill previously existed. <3>

Loud's Mill. Consists of a three and four storey red brick range, the north end being dated 1779 and the south end 1826. At right angles to the north end is a stable building with a circular corn-store at one end.

The buildings were originally a cloth mill but are now used as a sewage pumping station, stores and three dwelling houses. The former water wheel has been removed. <4>

Loud's Mill (SY 708903) comprises a late 18th century building of four storeys, an early 19th century building of three storyes and lower buildings, one of which housed the mill-wheel; all are now converted to other uses. <5>
