Abstract/Summary

The refurbishment and extension of Dorchester Middle School, Coburg Road, Dorchester, in the Spring and summer of 1998 involved the archaeological monitoring of groundworks at seceral locations around the site by AC Archaeology. The area of a proposed hard surface sports pitch contained significant prehistoric remains and some Romano-British features. An archaeological excavation in this area in August 1998 revealed an Early Neolithic pit, a Neolithic henge monument, Early Bronze Age inhumation burials, other prehistoric pits, and evidence for Romano-British cultivation.
