Abstract/Summary
‘Terrain Archaeology carried out archaeological observations and recording during ground works associated with the installation of a ground source heat pump system and upgraded electricity supply for Kingston Lacy House. An extensive background scatter of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint was revealed in the overflow car park to the west of the house. However, most of the discoveries are associated with the landscaping of Kingston Lacy park. The most significant feature is the probable remains of the late 18th century north east drive, which appears to have been sunk below ground as it approaches the house. Evidence for the extensive landscaping of the north side of the house by Charles Barry in 1835-41 was also revealed.’
