Description
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of the trenching associated with the installation of a new ground source heat pump system and electricity supply upgrading.
An extensive background scatter of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint was revealed in the overflow car park to the west of the house. The remains of a privy were found on the north side of the Kitchen Court. Most of the discoveries were associated with the landscaping of Kingston Lacy park. The most significant feature is the probable remains of the late 18th century north east drive, which appears to have been sunk below ground as it approaches the house. Evidence for the extensive landscaping of the north side of the house by Charles Barry in 1835-41 was also revealed.
