Abstract/Summary

Observations and recording of later stages of housing development on the eastern side of Crock Lane; the name has given rise to speculation that pottery was made in the vicinity. The first phase of development took place before observations began. A site visit was made in July 1985. No significant archaeological features or deposits were found. The site contractor, Mr Powell of Netherbury, said that he found nothing of significance during digging of foundation and service trenches. It was hoped to do a magnetometer survey before the second phase of building but the site was not suitable, owing to the presence of fences, services etc on and close to the site. No further work was done.
