Abstract/Summary
Observation and recording of an excavated soakaway revealed two linear archaeological features.
Ditch F1 ran in a west-east direction on the base of the trench. The fill was the same black humic soil as the overburden which had been removed from the trench but with the addition of large fragments of brick and drainpipe. This is a modern drainage ditch related to the building of the church (in the 1930s) or the church house (in the 1960s).
Gully F2 was narrower and ran north-south and had been cut by F1. All that can be said about its dating, is that it predated the drainage ditch F1.
The black humic earth is consistent with centuries of use as a garden.
