Abstract/Summary
A summary of the results of the fieldwork conducted up to the 17th September 2021 on Park Farm, Gillingham, Dorset. The fieldwork was conducted by Wessex archaeology to investigate the area under planning application for construction of a solar farm, battery storage and installation of associated infrastructure. A total of 57 trenches were cut into the four fields that make up the site. Three of the fields - the north-east, north-west and the south-west produced nothing of archaeologcial value. A single sher of pottery was recovered from the topsoil. Limited finds were recorded in the south-east field. This includes the uncovering of a possible posthole, a probable former hedge line and small fragments of charred animal bone. The only artefact of note is a small flint scraper recovered from the topsoil within the south-east field
