Abstract/Summary
'An archaeological investigation was undertaken by AC Archaeology Ltd, on land adjacent to Trigon Barrow, Wareham, Dorset between September and October 2019. The investigation comprised the machine excavation of 20 trenches, each 30m in length and 1.8m in width, in Phases 1 and 2 of the quarry extension. No archaeological features or deposits were revealed during the course of the investigations, although a number of linear drainage features were investigated. These were most likely created in association with the afforestation of the area in the early 20th century. Other features were shown to comprise tree throws and root boles deriving from use of this area as woodland. The investigation of two slight mounds, considered to be possible barrows, confirms that they are of natural origin.'
