SDO16528 - Land West of Roman Road and north of Spa Road, Weymouth, Dorset: Results of an archaeological evaluation

Report on archaeological investigations consisting of the machine excavation of seven trenches. Work was done to inform determination of a planning application for residential development. Archaeological deposits were revealed in three of the trenches, in the form of middle- to late-Iron Age and Romano-British cut features spanning the period from the 3rd century BC to the 4th century AD, and concentrated in a higher area in the eastern and south-eastern parts of the application area. A preceding geophysical survey had exhibited anomalies corresponding to only two of the features revealed in the trenches - two linear features.
