Abstract/Summary
Report on archaeological observation and recording during footpath improvement works close to the south-east corner of the Roman town defences. Groundworks revealed natural chalk over the whole area and no trace of the defences although the site was on the outer edge of the projected course of the bank. Bank material may have been removed as part of 18th-century landscaping to form the town walks.
