Title | Observation and Recording at St Nicholas Church, Arne |
Author/Originator | Ladle, L |
Date/Year | 2000 |
Abstract/Summary
Observation and recording took place during the digging of a trench for the laying of new drains behind and through an undated wall made of Purbeck stone. The wall was of fairly recent construction. The excavated soil horizon comprised 300mm of black, humic soil overlaying natural white/yellow clay. A number of finds were recovered from the upper soil layer and none from the clay. Of most interest was a complete moulded-glass medicine bottle bearing an inscription dating the item to the early 20th century.
