Abstract/Summary
An assessment of historic environment issues relating to the proposed development of land at Stepping Stone Field, Stoborough was undertaken on behalf of Halsall Homes. There were no designated archaeological heritage assets within the application area and 13 within the wider study area. The settings and significance of these would not be affected by the proposed development. The main archaeological interest in the area was a former burial mound known as 'King's Barrow' situated c. 360m SW of the application area. There were also two further Bronze Age barrows and Romano-British industrial structures including possible pottery kilns. Overall there was low potential for the presence of medieval or later deposits and moderate potential for unrecorded features or deposits of prehistoric date.
