Description

An assessment of historic environment issues was commissioned by Halsall Homes in relation to proposed development. The assessment included a study of the designated and non-designated assets for the site and a 500m radius of it and a site visit. There were no designated heritage assets within the site area and 13 in the wider study area which comprised 12 buildings and one SAM. The latter was the 'King's Barrow' defined as of high significance. The development would have no effect on the setting or significance of the monument or the closest building, a Grade II Listed Building, nor the remaining buildings. There were 17 non-designated assets in the study area, one lying partly in the site area. These included further burial mounds and evidence of Romano-British pottery industry. None of these were of high significance.
