SDO15905 - Charles Street, Dorchester, Appraisal and Assessment of the Archaeological Potential

An archaeological appraisal was commissioned by West Dorset District Council prior to possible development to determine whether there were economically viable ways of developing the site which contained nationally important remains while taking into account the necessary archaeology. The report concluded that any development could be achieved avoiding or minimising ground disturbance and that if this were not done, the cost of the necessary archaeology would be much higher. Further investigation of the site was recommended.
