Abstract/Summary
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned to carry out a trial trench evaluation on a 3.8ha of land being considered for residential development. A desk-based assessment and geophysical survey had suggested archaeological interest in the site. Eleven trenches were excavated revealing archaeological features in two, a field boundary ditch and associated drainage channel in one and the remains of a backfilled pond or quarry in the other which contained modern debris.
