Abstract/Summary
Observations and recording during groundworks for housing development on a site approximately 0.8ha adjacent to the Scheduled Monument of Shaftesbury Castle. This revealed a topsoil/rubble layer over a mixed silt layer containing a variety of artefacts from the early medieval, medieval, post-medieval and modern periods, suggesting that the area had been disturbed by landscaping, possibly when the house Old Brow was built in the 1930s.
