Abstract/Summary
‘An archaeological evaluation, consisting of two 2m x 2m, machine-excavated, trial trenches, was undertaken by AC Archaeology on the forecourt of Hallmark Motors, Wareham, Dorset, on September 5th 2014. Trial Trench 1 contained a post-medieval pit and a surface of medieval date. Trial Trench 2 contained structural remains of post-medieval and modern date, as well as an isolated medieval post hole. Although some medieval features were identified, it is likely that the construction of the post medieval structures has largely removed or damaged any earlier archaeological remains that may have existed on the site. Natural, undisturbed subsoil was reached within both trial trenches.’
