Abstract/Summary

‘Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken in May 2015 during groundworks for the development of a replacement water purification plant and recycling centre at the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery site at Blandford St Mary, Dorset (NGR ST886059). The archaeological investigations comprised the monitoring of the foundation trenches and the reduction of ground levels across within the foot print of these buildings. Although a substantial depth of made ground noted, some features of archaeological interest survived within the foot print for both buildings. These comprised a number of small ditch or gully features, pits, post holes, and a spread of occupational debris, likely dating to the Bronze Age or prehistoric period, with at least one pit feature containing material datable to the medieval period.’
