Abstract/Summary
The development lies within the historic town of Wareham in the south east quarter of the town and on the southern side of Wyatt’s Lane. On the south, the house plot backs on to the car park of the church of Lady St Mary and the extreme south-east corner is adjacent to the church cemetery. Until the modern house was built in the 1950s no development appears to have taken place on the site and there has been no previous archaeological work at this location.
Although no archaeological features were encountered, the pottery and animal bone suggest that the site has been utilised for at least ten centuries. The map and documentary evidence confirm that until the plot was built on in the 1950s, the ground had been used as a garden.
