EDO5996 - 19 Wyatt's Lane, Wareham; observations and recording 2015

Observations and recording during machine excavation of footings trenches for an extension in an area formerly garden. The trenches were 0.6m wide and 5m and 3.6m long, and excavated to the top of natural gravel at a depth of around 1.6m. The excavated material was a homogeneous, very dark brown humic loam with occasional small gravel and pieces of limestone, brick, slate and concrete. No archaeological features or deposits were observed. Some unstratified artefacts were recovered from the excavated material after it had been put into skips.
