Abstract/Summary
A watching brief on construction of small housing development at Devon Edge, Charmouth (centred SY 365 937) was conducted between June 2013 and August 2014 by Arrowhead Archaeology to fulfil a condition on the planning consent. The development area is approximately 0.12 ha.
The development area lies to the north of The Street and extends to the northernmost edge of the planned medieval town. The only pre-modern archaeological feature present was a gully of probable later 15th century date, in the northern edge of the development area. There was an absence of ditch or bank delineating the northern boundary of the planned medieval town.
