Abstract/Summary
Manual excavation of a 300mm x 450mm trench along the hallway of Priory Cottage revealed a c. 1.80m wide cobble foundation beneath its south wall, cut into an otherwise sterile sandy subsoil. The report suggests that the foundation is, possibly, too large for the existing walls of Priory Cottage and might relate to an earlier structure, possibly the precinct wall.
