<1> Heaton, M, 2011, Priory Cottage, Christchurch Priory, Dorset. Archaeological Watching Brief. (Unpublished document). SDO14024.
'Priory Cottage is a relic of a formerly more extensive range of service buildings within the outer ‘Great Court’ of the monastic precincts, the rest of which were demolished shortly after the Dissolution. It is understood to be of 12th or 13th century origin, was modified by the last Prior in the early 16th century and may have been restored in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. It is an archaeologically complex
structure, with redundant details and variations in fabric visible in most wall faces and in its layout. In addition to the archaeological complexity of its existing superstructure, deposits beneath its ground floor are likely to contain interpretable in situ evidence of its development and that of earlier structures.'
