Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation of the site was carried out in December 1995. The investigation involved the excavation and recording of three trial pits; two were 1 x 1m in plan and one was 2m x 1m The two smaller pits, located at the base of the prominent slope to the north of West Street, were excavated within existing outbuildings, the third was located upslope through a lawn. Fragments of Iron Age pottery were recovered from the topsoil in the latter pit, but no other artefacts or features of medieval or earlier date were recovered.
