Abstract/Summary
Observations and recording were carried out intermittently between 13 May and 21 June 1996 during excavation of a fishing lake. No archaeological features of artefacts were observed. However, substantial peat and alluvial deposits were recorded and thought likely, because of the position of the site in the upper reaches of the river, to be anthropogenic in origin and probably to have been created in the Bronze Age and/or Iron Age. Observations strongly suggested that the deposits extend up and down stream of the site, and demonstrated the potential for significant archaeological potential.
