Title | Myrtle Cottage, Litton Cheney |
Author/Originator | Wallis, S |
Date/Year | 1994 |
Abstract/Summary
The County Archaeological Officer recommended a condition requiring archaeological observation and recording during groundworks on this application because of the site's location in the historic core of Litton Cheney. This site was visited by the author on 7 November 1994. Excavation of the house foundation trench was in progress, this being just over 1m deep. The topsoil was about 0.3m deep. It overlay a natural subsoil which was an orangy-brown sandy silt with orange and white mottles. A large area of medium greyish-brown silty clay presumably represented a geological feature. No archaeological features or finds were noted.
