Abstract/Summary

AC Archaeology compiled an initial desk-based studyof a proposed development site comprising two land plots at West Street and King Street, Wimborne Minster, Dorset. The study synthesised sources including the Dorset Historic Environment Record, The County Records Office, published archaeological reports and a site walkover. There is some evidence to suggest that both West Street and King Street were part of the medieval town, possibly part of its thirteenth century suburban development, and on the fringe of the settlement. Archaeological deposits of Medieval date are therefore possible within the area of the proposed development. The possible existence of prehistoric deposits was also noted.
