Abstract/Summary
A preliminary archaeological assessment of the proposed residential development of land adjacent to the Crown Hotel, Blandford has involved an examination of historical cartographic and documentary sources and a site inspection. Although no records of archaeological sites or finds exist for the area there is some potential for such remains. The principal area of interest is the possible course of the former medieval thoroughfare through the north part of the site, which is suggested from a seventeenth century map source. It has not been possible to further assess the potential for prehistoric activity on the site.
