Abstract/Summary
AC Archaeology conducted a desk based assessment of 0.13ha of land to the north of Grove Lane, Stalbridge as a result of a planning application for the construction of six cottages on the site. The assessment concluded that the site lies within 50m of the likely site of a medieval market and within the zone of the historic settlement. It also lies within 150m of a likely Roman occupation site. Buildings existed along the Grove Lane frontage from at least the early 19th century. These buildings were demolished at some time between 1956 and 1979.
