Full Description

[This section of Battery Bank was formerly recorded as part of SY 88 NE 8, which originally dealt with Battery Bank as a whole. SY 88 NE 8 is now the parent record for the whole earthwork, and each individual section is recorded as a separate child monument] Battery Bank consists of a bank with a ditch on the outer side, the course of which is irregular. The bank is composed of earth and small flints and the ditch in preserved sections appears to be wide but shallow. Gravel workings have erased much of the earthwork and threaten further sections. Section E (see individual records for the other surviving sections) - SY 88338780 to SY 88948747. A well preserved bank, 8 metres wide on average, with a ditch visible at the west and east ends. It has been ploughed up to, but not over. Its length is 700 metres. It is very well-preserved in Jubilee Plantation. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. (2)
