Site of saw mills marked on the second edition OS map (1). Steam-powered stone saw mill and works of Portland Stone Co., 1872 next to Portland station, Chiswell. (2-3). Taken over by F.J. Barnes in 1885. Equipment described briefly by B.L. Jackson. (4)
