Full Description

Two cremations excavated in Field N. The first consisted of fragments of bone and pottery scattered over an area of c. 2.2m with a small localised concentration of bone, pottery and charcoal. Likely to have been plough damaged. The second cremation was c.35m to the east and consisted of a small bowl-shaped pit containing a black burnished ware cooking jar dated to c.175AD used as a container for cremated bone. The jar had been placed on its side and had been damaged in antiquity. 11 pits were also excavated in Field N (1)
