Full Description

Topsoil stripping during construction of footpath recovered 'moderate quantities of ceramic building materials' . Some of this material was found to be Medieval in date. A small assemblage of worked flint and chert was also recovered, dated broadly to the Neolithic period. However, 'ample modern contamination' was also observed during the watching brief, suggesting none of the material was derived from primary contexts. Monitoring of the drainage ditch further demonstrated that area of the site had also been impacted in the recent past by intrusive groundworks. No significant archaeological features of deposits were encountered. (1)
