Monument record MDO990 - Bowl barrow on Lord's Down, Dewlish

Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was recorded as around 50 feet in diameter with a mound about 3 feet high, and much plouched. This barrow is thought to have been opened around 1883, when a cremation burial in a Late Bronze Age bucket-urn was found. The site of this Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a low earthwork mound on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

'A'. SY 78629740, diameter 16.0m., height 0.5m. Both barrows are in arable and have been much ploughed down. Neither has a visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <6>
