Summary

A limekiln is recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the 1886 Ordnance Survey map, ‘old limekiln’ on the 1901/1927 and 1938 O/S maps. It is not shown on the 1886 tithe map. It was visited in 1992-3 by Peter Stanier and found to be in bad condition with only some 1-19% still standing. The kiln was also visited by Steve Wallis of the DCC Archaeology Service in 1994. He was not able to clearly identify the kiln.
